Just a quick post with some trailers of films i really want to see, i love monkeys by the way and really cannot wait to see rise of the apes so the trailer for that is also here, bring on the chimps and get me a bunch of banana's and a cinema seat!
Enjoy,
Jonny T.

Juan of the dead.
Cuban zombies! This looks great, I'm currently hunting to see what the release date will be in the UK, as soon as i know you will!

Pool Boy: Drowning out the fury.

Many thanks to my mate Steve Suffolk for telling me about this gem, as the reemergence of great grind house films continues with such films as Hobo with a shotgun and Dead hooker in a trunk this looks to be up there with them!

Rise of the planet of the apes.

The monkeys are back! I was not a great fan of the Tim Burton film but this looks great, as i said i really cannot wait to see it!

The Dead

Another great looking Zombie flick for your viewing pleasure!!

The Thing 2011.

Been waiting for this for what seems like an age, but it's finally arriving this October, great looking prequel to John Carpenters classic horror film.

Paranormal Activity 3.

I really didn't like the first film(hype killed it for me!) but i really enjoyed the 2nd one and this also looks great!

So there you go people, let me know if you get to see any of them and what you think and i'll do the same,
stay safe,
Jonny T.

An interview with N.J.Hallard and MEGA contest!!!

Hello people,
I Have been luckily enough to recently interview N.J.Hallard the author of the fantastic zombie book
Breaking News: an Autozombiography which is his first novel and has been a great success amongst the horror community and beyond, he is a UK based author and is also a fantastic artist(see the prize!!) that lives on the south coast of sunny England.

So,myself, Big man Gav and Lord Felpby(no less!) compiled some questions and fired them at N.J.,
Hope you enjoy the interview and we are please to announce that he has dedicated as not 1 but 2 prizes to Jonnys Cult films, Nice man!!

The Fantastic prize package contains:-
1/ A signed copy of Breaking News: an Autozombiography
2/ An amazing piece of hand drawn artwork from NJ himself signed and framed, 1 of a kind!!!!

An interview with NJ HALLARD.

Hello Mr Hallard, how are things with you and how are the sales of 'Breaking News: an Autozombiography' going?
The sales figures are amazing, and I continue to be utterly humbled by the enthusiasm of total strangers for my writing. Its such a boost knowing people all over the world - and not just in England - are enjoying it so much.
So as a thank you and to celebrate a year since release, I'm going to be dropping the price of the book in all eBook formats during August to £0.70 (that's $0.99). If the last time I did that is anything to go by, sales may well go through the roof again (it smashed its way into the top ten in 'Horror' on Amazon Kindle UK after the most recent price drop, which was mind-blowing). EBook readers love a bargain, and 300 pages of illustrated zombie-slaying action from Baron Cissbury for under a quid is a good one!
I hear that you will be doing a follow up, can you tell us a little more about that?
Yep. 'Rising Up: an Autozombiography' tracks the progress of the characters from 'Breaking News: an Autozombiography' from a point nearly three years after the outbreak. People have developed along with the encampment, adapting in different ways to their new lives.
But there's trouble ahead for Cissbury Ring as a truly dangerous individual takes over the bedraggled camp at nearby Arundel Castle, and the tragedy this time around will be so much more personal as we know everyone. I am currently half-way through the first draft, and I'll be doubling the number of illustrations this time as I had so much amazing feedback about the artwork. I already know what will happen in the third part of the Baron Cissbury trilogy so watch this space!
When is 'Rising Up: an Autozombiography' due out?
I am working flat out for it to be released by Christmas 2011. However with no agent; publisher; publicist; proofreader; technical consultant; marketing department; illustrator or ghostwriter (I wish!) I am aware that something might change that. Add to that a recession; mortgage; family; owning a business and being addicted to Twitter and it gets a bit scary. I'm a determined and resourceful chap though, so I fully expect it to be out when I say. If not, I'll have to have words with myself...

I've heard that a lot of the book is based on the area where you live and your actual family and friends. How difficult was it to determine the fate of these key characters? Did you find any points particularly emotional to write because of this?
I'm finding that much, much harder in this second installment.

Since the last book was written I imagine your circumstances may have altered. Can we expect your character(s) to have changed in the new book as a result of this?
My circumstances have altered in that I am now able to count writing as a significant source of income in my life. Before the first novel grew so popular it was just a pipe dream that I could ever make money from creative writing. Now I can spend a day or two a week (and every night) writing without feeling like it is a guilty pleasure.
I absolutely love the universe I have created, and writing with it feels like playtime for me! I love British history, and writing the sequel - taking place as it does well after the collapse of civilisation - has let me muck about with the themes of Medieval England (Baronies, horses, bows and arrows and general pestilent filth etc.) which I hinted at in the first book but with the odd quad bike, chainsaw and massive explosion thrown in for good measure. The characters have changed because they are three years into a zombie apocalypse with no electricity, running water, sanitation or medication which takes its toll. Our hero Baron Cissbury - being a zombie film fan back in the day -  seems to take it all in his stride as per usual, the smug git.

If ever Hollywood became interested in your project who would be your dream cast for the motion picture?
Last time we talked about this I suggested Sam Worthington as the Baron would be my first choice (he'd have to convince me he could do a Worthing accent though). However, I think it'd be pretty good with a cast of 'unknowns' too. Having said that I realised last night that I'm definitely writing the bad guy in 'Rising Up: an Autozombiography' with a specific British actor in mind - but I'll keep that one under my hat for the moment!

A final question from the one and only Lord Felby!

Good day young Mr Hallard, I have read and seen many a book/film about these here pesky undead types and my preferred method of transport is the good old bicycle - nothing better than a sunny bike ride on my estate with mallet in hand swatting the stinkers! Why do you think the commoners don't use this method of escape more often?

Sir.
I would heartily discourage any attempt to fight off a plague of the undead on a bicycle. As well as the obvious questions (just how quick are you with a puncture repair kit?), one's legs would be exposed somewhat. Remember: it only takes a tiny scratch to become infected. Also, try kicking at something stationary whilst you canter past it on an aluminium-framed steed. You shall fall off, sir - and then you shall get eaten. No napkins or fruit course with these rum coves! Basic table manners are out.
Horses afford far greater height from the ground; they absorb any body momentum from one's mallet-blows; they don't attract stinkers; they can haul salvaged equipment; are good for morale; don't need petrol; and have a good auto-pilot facility in return for mints. Plus literally anyone would look fucking magnificent lopping off zombie heads while on horseback.
Don't believe me? Read my book!

Well there you go folks what a top man and a great book!
It is available on Kindle in the UK and the U.S.A So go get it now, i promise you you will not be disappointed!!

Japanese Spiderman!!

Good day good people!
In a response on my Yokai monsters blog post a friend of my James Hogan(a Man with great film taste!)sent me a link to a YouTube video called Japanese Spiderman and it's awesome!
Upon doing some research into it it appears that it was a TV series which was shown every Wednesday night at 7.30pm on Japanese TV,it ran a total of 41 episodes and also a film, it ran from May 1978 to March 1979 and was made by the Toei company in Japan and was said to be loosely based upon the Marvel comic book character,The show was a result of a three year licensing agreement between Toei and Marvel in which they were allowed to use/incorporate each others characters, The show also featured the usual Japanese Robot in the form of Leopardo as on attempt to attract a younger audience, now whilst Marvel themselves were never to keen on the license agreement it I'd said that Spiderman Creator Stan Lee was and is to this day a huge fan of the Japanese take upon his creation especially the way that the actor portrayed Spiderman in a very realistic spider type way.
Now you can see from the trailer(below) that it is indeed very loosely based upon Marvels spider man on the fact that Spiderman fires a gun, Drives a vehicle and a lot of inter planetary hoo haa is abound, but saying that this is a great fun series indeed, any fan of the Japanese monster stuff such as Ultraman will love this!
Another Grate thing is that Marvel have all the episodes up on their site all in original Japanese language with English subs! You can watch all the episodes here---------> Watch Japanese Spiderman Now!!!!!
Also if you get 5, have a look at dome of the outages geek boys comments on the YouTube site there is some outrage, ha!!!
Enjoy,
Jonny T

Wound-The most depraved film ever??????

Good day to you all,
So coming at us soon is yet another film being touted around as "the most shocking film I've ever seen" and "Will definitely be banned in the UK" and if it does that will get it some good publicity Ala Human Centipede 2 which is currently banned in the UK, So be the judge yourself, i personally thing it looks kind of interesting and hey you know we all will see it!
Jonny T.
From the Press Release

"A two-headed doll! Iron-phallused pig-man stealth! Birthing your own twin! The nightclub of dream-wandering! If your family of origin doesn’t kill you, you may just make it. You will love Kate O’Rourke as she encounters her delirious, incestuous monsters of the id in this romantically charged Gothic psycho-sexual horror tale by my fellow enfant terrible David Blyth. Gorgeous images and repulsive dream-surgery into the recesses of female consciousness. Enter at your own peril! A masterpiece!” – Ken Russell (The Devils, Altered States, Lair of the White Worm)
Before there was Peter Jackson, New Zealand’s David Blyth was corrupting the minds and turning the stomachs of horror fans with films like his depraved debut, ANGEL MINE, and his 80’s world renowned cult hit, DEATH WARMED UP.
After launching theatrically in Toronto August 12th, WOUND will begin a national theatrical tour with stops slated for Hamilton, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and more cities to be announced. Keep it locked here for all the details.

Synopsis

WOUND is a supernatural horror film that explores the dark worlds of mental illness, incest, revenge and death. We follow Tanya as she searches for the mother she has never met – a mother (Susan) who gave her up for dead after being abused by her own father who remains stuck in her present life.
Tanya returns from the dead to confront and possess Susan with all her deepest fears and desires, sending Susan into a state of madness and gore-filled retribution.
WOUND explores and confronts the dark, distorted supernatural world that lurks within us all.

I've discovered Yokai Monsters!!

Hello All,
Well i was looking for something to watch the other day when i came across something called Yokai Monsters:Spooky Warfare from 1968 and as you can see from the above poster it looks bonkers and indeed it is!
I have been a huge Japanese monster fan for years but i can honestly say it has been mainly the classic Godzilla and Gamera films and i had never heard of these Yokai monsters, They all come from just about every Japanese mythical creature ever and some of the are beyond bizarre, i have discovered that there are a ton of films and animations and also a huge range of toys all very collectible that reflects in the price but i can see a couple or three of them definitely looking great on my monster toy shelves at home.
Now onto my 1st experience-Yokai Monster:spooky warfare, The story unfolds with the mythical legend that every 4000 years a creature returns from the sea to dish out it's wrath on greedy mankind and over the last 4000 years man being the greedy race that he is has all but forgotten about the monster, we cut to a scene where 2 bearded fellows are raiding an ancient tomb for gold and treasures, then a strange creature appears and wipes them out big time!

Now upon reading some background on these legends and the films that surround them these were intended to be a children's series and i can see why but it does have a fair amount of blood and violence in it, all good by me.
The mythical beast then moves on to a hapless samurai and kills him by biting his neck vampire style and we see his hand covered in loads of blood, this brings the samurai back to life with an evil spirit and it carries on from one person to another, we then get to see the fantastic character that is the garden imp who comes up from the pond to confront the beast and promptly gets his head rubbed on a wooden post so vigorously it catches fire!
So he now knows the power of the beast and See's the chaos and devastation planned and seeks out the help of all the other Yokai monster, we see all of them one by one and there are loads of them!!!!
I think that is one of the greatest points of the film for me the fact that when the next monster appears you just don't know what it will look like and they are all equally as crazy.
I would thoroughly recommend this film 100% whether you are a fan of this kind of thing or not, it's an absolute blast in the style of the classic TV show Monkey, now as i said this is my 1st fore into Yokai monsters and i don't know a lot about them but if you do please let me know and i shall return with a fair few more posts on my fantastic new discovery that is the classic YOKAI MONSTERS!!!

Leicester City Council 'not ready' for zombie attack !!

Hello All,
I was recently scanning the old tinterwebs when i came across this funny story about "Leicester City Council 'not ready' for zombie attack", Now Leicester is only a few miles from my home town of Nottingham and it got me wondering if indeed our council here in Nottingham or indeed any in the country are ready for the zombie Apocalypse, well i will be ready, now. where did i put my zombie survival guide?????
Jonny T.

An actual letter from a concerned citizen to Leicester City Council!

Dear Leicester City Council,

Can you please let us know what provisions you have in place in the event of a zombie invasion? Having watched several films it is clear that preparation for such an event is poor and one that councils throughout the kingdom must prepare for.
Please provide any information you may have.
Yours faithfully,
Concerned Citizen.

Their responce to the concerned citizen!

The authority received a Freedom of Information request which said provisions to deal with an attack, often seen in horror films, were poor.

The "concerned citizen" said the possibility of such an event was one that councils should be aware of.
"We've had a few wacky ones before but this one did make us laugh," said Lynn Wyeth, head of information governance.
The Freedom of Information Act allows a right of access to recorded information held by public authorities.
Ms Wyeth said she was unaware of any specific reference to a zombie attack in the council's emergency plan, however some elements of it could be applied if the situation arose.

Other submissions to the council have included requests for records of paranormal activity and haunted buildings within the city.
"To you it might seem frivolous and a waste of time... but to different people it actually means something," said Ms Wyeth.
"Everybody has their own interests and their own reasons for asking these questions."
She added high-profile cases, such as the MPs expenses scandal, has raised public awareness of the right to request information records.
Ed Thurlow, who runs zombie website Terror4Fun, said he felt a zombie invasion in Leicester was highly unlikely.
"I think perhaps [the "Concerned Citizen"] has watched films like 28 Days Later a few too many times."

REC 3:Genesis-Preview

Good day to you all,
Well as REC3:Genesis  approaches more has been released about the plot, it apparently is a prequel to the other two fantastic films, set mainly at a wedding at mainly and surprisingly mostly in the daylight with twists and hints that lead to the 1st 2 films, Bring it on i say!
As you probably know REC was remade super quick in the USA and released as Quarantine, i never bothered with that as i heard it was your basic shot for shot remake and Quarantine 2:The terminal has just come out which isn't a remake(thank god) of REC2 but takes it in a different direction by being set on a plane and within an airport terminal, i have seen it and to be honest it ain't great, it's a decent enough film but does nothing for me personally.
Also whilst filming REC3 they are also filming the finale to the series REC4-Apocalypse which is to be set after all 3 films, i personally think the REC franchise is super strong and hope that the next 2 films are as good as the first 2, as i said BRING THEM ON!!

Batman-Under the red hood-mini review.

Hello People,
I was recently listening to the excellent podcast which is Horroretc and Ted discussed a Warner Brothers animated feature called Batman-under the red hood and i was intrigued,my wife Emma also listens to the show and i was glad to say when i got home she had already got it so we stuck it on.
It's great! The story unfolds with the joker smashing the hell out of Robin with a crowbar and leaving him for dead inside a factory that is rigged with a ton of explosives, the factory blows up just as Batman arrives and we see him holding Robins dead lifeless body, great start.

We then zoom 5 years forward where we see a meeting of 2 rival gangs supposedly set up by each gang but no they weren't the ones that set the meeting up it was the new villain on the block the red hood.

He appears from over the balcony and they think he's a joke until he throws down a demand where as he wants 40% o all there takings, they laugh at him until he throws a bag on the table that contains 6 heads of there generals, this guy ain't messing about!!They agree and he also Say's he will run Gotham and take down Batman and the other mega Villain The Black Mask.
So you see from the start with Robin being beaten to death with a crow bar and a bag of severed heads thrown at the gangsters what kind of thing you are in for,it's very violent.
The story continues with the red hood sniping at Batman and Night wing(The 1st Robin) and a chase ensues and he escapes but when Batman and Night wing analyse the video of the chase they realise that The Red Hood has skills way beyond what they expected, now this is where the twists and turns start to kick in.
I shall say no more as it would start to spoil it and you should really see it,I'm not a huge Batman fan or know may of the characters except of course the obvious ones but i really did enjoy this and it would make for a great film, the animation is superb and the story told brilliantly, i hope that they make some more from the same series of comics and i am now intrigued to seek out more and give me something else to watch,as this is only 1 hour and 15 minutes long it's perfect evening viewing.

Films i've seen this year Part 5

Hey,
I'm back! Quicker than usual but I've seen a ton of films so far so i have to get off my ass and publish them or I'll never get it done it time for xmas!
Enjoy,
Jonny T.

The Horseman

Great little film from Australia about a father who seeks revenge on some sick fucks that killed his daughter in the porn industry and boy does he get his revenge, gritty low budget and very brutal, especially the bicycle pump down the penis scene ouch!!
8/10.

The Box.

Hollywood take on a twilight zone episode,If you press the button someone dies but you get a million dollars, would you push the button? Starts great but descends into the realms of utter stupidness by the end i was saying what the fuck? a good idea but utterly wasted.
5/10

The Big Lebowski

A solid gold classic from the legendary Cohen brothers, the dude is one of THE coolest people ever to grace the big screen, if you've not seen it go do so now!
8/10

IP MAN

A fantastic film about Bruce lee's mentor IP Man, stunning performance from the legend that is Donnie Yen, If you've never seen a kung fu film you really really really REALLY need to watch this now, it's easily the best film i have seen this year, i guarantee you will love it.My film of the year so far.I have not included the trailer but one of the many many great fight scenes.Enjoy.
A BIG FAT 10/10!!!!!

13 Assasins.

A great cinematic return from the legendary director Takashi Miike, a tale of revenge, a shogun classic up there with the best ever made, slow first half hour or so but you get a battle scene that lasts half the film, breathtaking stuff, take note Hollywood!!
8/10

IP MAN 2.

He's back! Whilst not quite as good as the original still a great continuation of the story of IP Man and well worth a watch, my only gripe was unfortunately this one used a little more wire work and the British actors do get a tad annoying but still very much worth seeing.
8/10

Stir of echoes

Creepy ghost flick starring Kevin Bacon, not the best thing I've ever seen but seen a lot worse, some great creepy scenes and twists and turns, defiantly worth a look.
7/10

Gamera:Revenge of Iris

Fantastic entry in to Gamera series from a few years back, some great battle scenes and HUGE monsters, what more could one want?
8/10

I Saw the devil.

Bloody Nora old chap what a film! A guy seeks revenge for the death of his pregnant wife and finds the killer early on in the film then it just does not stop, brutal as hell, fantastic cinematography, great acting, a very very high recommend indeed,
9/10

So there you go people, some more titles you may or may not have seen and looking back on the list myself there is a fair few Asian title up there, Asian cinema does have some great titles that are well worth seeking out, happy viewing, part 6 coming soon!
